Intestinal parasites
Intestinal parasites in pets include roundworms, tapeworms, hookworms, and other even smaller organisms such as protozoa. These can be transmitted via contaminated water or food or when a pet eats an infested flea.
Puppies and kitten often get intestinal parasites from their mother. Once inside your pet's body, these parasites make their way to the pet's intestinal tract and can cause malnutrition, weight loss, anemia, and even vision loss. Fortunately, it's easy to treat and prevent intestinal parasites. Most heartworm medications have a dewormer in them. In addition, flea and tick medication will help your pet from getting fleas that he or she might ingest.
